I was quite frustrated that Safari doesn’t have a dedicated shortcut to re-open a closed tab, and then I stumbled upon this by accident. Apparently Safari treats a tab close like any other action, and actions can be undone.
So if you close a tab, and find out you still need it, do the
⌘Z.
